Many of you have probably heard the name Grand-Guignol, at least once during your lifetime. The legend that formed around this name came to life in 1897, when André Antoine, the founder of Théâtre Libre, started his collaboration with a certain Oscar Méténier, a former chien de commisaire (a person who accompanied prisoners on a death row).
