Updating Frankenstein

According to Deadline, Sony Pictures has purchased the rights to Frankenstein and writer Craig Fernandez has been chosen to write a contemporary version of the story. Craig Fernandez is one of the writers for the forthcoming film From Prada to Nada, apparently a modern retelling of Sense and Sensibility with a Latin spin. Sounds ominous.

There are two other versions of Frankenstein also in pre-production: one based on the stories of Dean Koontz, and one from Guillermo del Toro.

Seems to be a notable number of Frankenstein projects generally at the moment.
