Ruins of Detroit

Following up from Stuart’s post on urban exploration, I thought it was worth considering this article in today’s Observer, drawn to my attention by Liam. It offers a fascinating account of ‘Detroit in Ruins’ in post-industrial America as shown in the photographs of Yves Marchand and Romain Meffre.  As Sean O’Hagan observes in the article, their photographs offer  ‘a book of testimony, which not only illustrates the dramatic decline of a major American city, but of the American Dream itself.’ Bit of an Ozymandias moment. Does anyone know if there is any Gothic literature coming out of/set in Detroit at the moment?
