Halloween too scary: let’s go cuddly and move to the Christian celebration of good over evil. (Says leading Christian cleric….)

Every year, some religious leader makes a really ridiculous comment about Halloween. In 2009 it was the Vatican as we reported in last year’s news at this time: http://www.gothic.stir.ac.uk/news/Vatican-condemns-Halloween/ For 2010, it’s the Rt. Rev. David Gillet, Bishop of Bolton, who ‘wants people to come away from Halloween’s darker side’. BBC News reports that the Rev Gillet thinks “The emphasis has become so evil and scary, I’ve spoken to children and adults who find it too scary,” he says. “Why not lighter costumes? Brighter colours?” he asks. “Face masks that people could paint themselves in a way that sets their own level of spookiness”. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/magazine/6099008.stm
Difficult to know what to say, isn’t it…
