Film adaptation of Stephen King’s The Stand

With increased interest in post-apocalyptic fictions over the past couple of years (The Road, The Passage…), it’s not surprising to hear that Warner Bros and CBS are teaming up for an adaptation of Stephen King’s The Stand. First published in 1978 and revised and extended in 1990, The Stand has an epic 1141 pages which span many years and feature a huge cast of characters, with the primary focus on a group of survivors fighting the Antichrist-like figure Randall Flagg. It was adapted for television in 1994 (badly).

There’s been no further word on whether Ridley Scott has made any progress on his adaptation of Justin Cronin’s The Passage for a while. Would be very interesting to see both films released at a similar time.
