Whistle and I’ll Come To You 2010. Directed by Andy De Emmony, teleplay by Neil Cross.

Previewed by Tom Paskins.

Christmas just wouldn’t be Christmas without a traditional Ghost story. The BBC has so far proved itself to be very good at upholding this tradition. In 2008 they gave us the superb Crooked House and last year they put on a brand new adaptation of Henry James’s classic tale of supernatural terror The Turn of The Screw. This year they are giving us a contemporary adaptation of M.R. James’s Edwardian ghost story Oh Whistle and I’ll Come to You My Lad.

Not much in the way of official information from the BBC website so far other than it is to star John Hurt as James Parkin. Gemma Jones and Leslie Sharp have also been confirmed to star. There are a few further details available here http://www.bbc.co.uk/tv/comingup/whistle-and-ill-come-to-you/ I shall certainly be looking forward to sitting down to watch this in the company of a mince pie and a glass or two of wine.

Please note there is a more recent post with a review of the programme at http://www.gothic.stir.ac.uk/blog/whistle-and-ill-come-to-you-review/
