Mark Godden, of the Royal Winnipeg Ballet, Canada,  has recently choreographed Svengali, a balletic retelling of George Du Maurier's fin-de-siecle Gothic tale of mesmerism.    The ballet will run in Winnipeg at the NAC's Southam Hall from 26-28 January, 2012.  For an interesting newspaper article on the event, see here.

Blue Demon was one of Mexico's most famous pop culture icons. Like Santo, he was a trans-media property, spanning free wrestling performances, film and comics. These two characters embraced the Gothic producing a successful mash-up of cultural references.
