Halloween Gothic: a festival of international Gothic horror film

A festival of international Gothic horror films will be held over the Halloween weekend at the macrobert theatre, University of Stirling campus. Organisers: Glennis Byron, English Studies; Sarah Neely, Film, Media and Journalism, and Ian Conrich, Birkbeck, University of London.   Further information will be posted shortly, but in the meantime, you can find a schedule and a powerpoint show promoting the event here.

Karl Lagerfeld has stated that he took direct inspiration from Amy Winehouse (among others) for his Pre-Fall 2008 collection. The beehive and the crayoned-on eyeliner are certainly there, but in the publicity shots featuring supermodel Coco Rocha, cialis they are as reminiscent of Goth style as they are of Winehouse’s 1960s-inspired look. The encrustation of crucifixes, the black silk and rubber, the fingerless gloves, the whiff of Victoriana: it seems Gothic is back yet again. The online, peer-reviewed Irish Journal of Gothic and Horror Studies is seeking article submissions for its fifth issue, to be published in late 2008. Past contributors have included David J. Skal, Ramsey Campbell, Mark Jancovich and Kim Newman.
